Newport: A Cool Place for Outdoor Fun
Unlike how many envision luxurious coastal vacations, one does not need 100 degree temperatures to have a good time. The city of Newport, like much of the Oregon Coast, stays at around 50 – 70 degrees all year. Travelers who love warm beach environments but who would prefer to avoid the blistering sun will enjoy the Oregon Coast for this very reason.

If it is a quirky museum or Oregon Coast attraction you seek, then Newport city is certainly the place for you. The Oregon Coast Aquarium is a particularly memorable aquarium, as it features some of the best and most exotic marine life in the country. The Ripley's Believe it or Not! museum is also extremely entertaining, as is the Wax Works wax sculpture museum. The entertainment in Newport really does transport one back to an earlier time, where campy attractions were truly the most fun thing to do on a vacation.

Dining is also one of the best aspects of Newport City. Discount the belief that you have to go to New England for the best seafood in the country; alas, this is simply not true. Some of the best seafood in the United States does indeed come out of the Pacific, and much of it is available in Newport. Sada's Japanese Cuisine offers some absolutely phenomenal sushi, made with the freshest fish possible. For those who prefer their fish a little less "fresh," try Sharks Seafood Bar and Steamer Co., which serves fantastic steamed seafood, cutting down on the calories but keeping the flavor.

Astoria: A Historically Rich and Rainy Town
The Waldorf-Astoria did not originate in the town of Astoria along the Oregon Coast. However, Astoria was indeed where the Lewis and Clark expedition of the United States originated! Astoria has also been the setting for a very large amount of Hollywood movies, and visitors can easily find information on where to see scenes from many of their favorite films. The Astoria river walk and trolley rides also offer guests to the town hours of enjoyment.

Consider checking out some fabulous Oregon Coast rentals when in Astoria. You can rent charming yet palatial houses on the beach, rather than feel cooped up in a tacky resort swarming with kids. This option allows visitors to take lengthy relaxing and romantic vacations at a private beach side destination, where they may tan or fish or swim as they please. Consider investing in your own little Oregon Beach rental for a few weeks. Guests booking a summer or vacation home may rent myriad types of properties, from the quaint to the absolutely decadent.

Whether it is Astoria or Newport you seek, an Oregon Coast vacation is absolutely sure to please. Oregon Coast rental vacation rentals are a great route for weeks of privacy, while Oregon Coast hotels are also a great choice for people who seek on site pampering and accommodations with little to no work. Whichever suits you, grab an Oregon Coast map and begin planning this fun and exciting trip!
