South Coast Australia is a phenomenal destination for tourists who seek local and traditional culture along with beach side luxury and glamour. The South Coast area of New South Wales (frequently referred to as South Coast NSW) is an area that boasts an even mixture of locals and tourists, making it a great place for travelers who enjoy emerging themselves in local culture. However, South Coast NSW still boasts tons of great attractions, accommodations, and beaches.

The South Coast NSW area is an incredibly popular area during holidays, however, and the town can become extremely populated with tourists during these times. Tourists and travelers who seek a more low key and authentic South Coast NSW experience will much prefer the area during non-holidays for that reason. Still, the area can indeed be fun around the holidays, if you are the type of traveler who enjoys bustling beaches and densely populated night clubs and bars.

Here is a short guide to help you through some of the must see attractions of South Coast NSW. But one should be warned that once they step foot upon these beautiful beaches, they may never want to return home!

Jervis Bay: Paradise on Earth

Jervis Bay is an extraordinarily luxurious place to visit, and it also makes for a great destination for adventurous travelers who seek fun activities like scuba diving and surfing. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the stunning Jervis Bay National Park, in addition to the Booderee National Park and the Booderee Botanic Gardens, which are managed by the Aboriginal tribes of South Coast NSW and have been excellently preserved and protected. Try the Jervis Bay Marine Park if you wish to see dolphins, in addition to other marine species that are native to the South Beach NSW.

Moruya: The Spirit of Native Australia

Moruya is a very tiny town on the Moruya River. Traditional Australian culture is the name of the game in Moruya, and this small town provides visitors with a chance to truly see what the real Australia is all about. The Saturday morning street vendor markets offer tourists rare Australian native artwork and interesting and ethnic cuisines. Moruya is also a very jungle dense area, but it is not advised to venture into dense jungle areas, at least not without a guide. Besides, the rumored twenty foot Megalenia Lizard is said to lurk in these jungles!

Ulladulla: Come for the Food

The South Coast NSW region of Ulladulla offers some of the rarest and most delicious food in Australia. There is an annual food market and festival in Ulladulla, which serves as a sign to how important cuisine is to this region. The area is a huge fishing town, so fresh sea food is the name of the game in many of these Aboriginal Tribe inspired dishes. Ulladulla is also a great place to find a fantastic South Coast rental, as it is home to great cabins and small beach side rental properties.

Montague Island: The Most Far Away Place on Earth

Take a guided tour of the breathtaking Montague Island, which lies right off the coast of South Coast NSW. This gorgeous island, with plenty of natural rock formations, is the best place in South Coast Australia for whale watching. Tours of the historic Montague Island lighthouse are also included, and the sights are sure to amaze. Capitalize on the chance to scuba dive with seals.

If you desire the rare opportunity to stay overnight at Montague Island, participate in the Conservation Volunteers of Australia program. This program allows visitors to stay overnight on this secluded island and participate in a bit of philanthropic environmentalist efforts. While it may seem like a bit too much work for a vacation, the opportunity to interact with the wildlife in the area is precious.

The South Coast NSW area is one of those rare precious gems only really acknowledged during the holiday season - and even then, most only seek out fancy resorts. Embark on some of these exciting journeys such as whale watching or scuba diving with seals. You are sure to be amazed and return home with many exciting stories to tell.
