The South Pacific is a large island region, often popularized in film and literature by its gorgeous teal waters and soft tropical breezes. The South Pacific is the ideal vacation destination for those tourists who mostly want sun and fun on their coast vacation.
The islands vary in their terrain; some are sandy beach paradises, and others are made of cliffs and mountains, in addition to lush greenery. No matter where your South Pacific vacation takes you, you are sure to enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches, exciting beachside activities, engaging nightlife, and interesting local culture in the world. All you have to ask yourself is this: which region of the South Pacific is right for me?
The region of Micronesia is one of the most popular regions in the South Pacific. There are four states in Micronesia: Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap. Yap is the destination for those who seek scuba diving, surfing, and sailing. An exciting island destination, Yap offers scores of hotels and lodgings, ranging from simple to cosmopolitan. The outer reefs of Yap are ideal for scuba diving, as they offer beautiful coral formations and amazing tropical fish. Just a day of walking around the island is a vacation in itself; the culture and cuisine in Yap are both amazing, and the region is very safe and friendly to travelers.
Another ideal destination in the South Pacific is the Cook Islands. This warm island stretch is a phenomenal tourist destination, but only if you are a rugged outdoors type. The canoe tours and nature hikes are excellent. Rent a villa on the beach and spend long hours sailing and sunbathing. The dining and nightlife on the Cook Islands are wonderful, and everything on the island has a quite low-key vibe about it.
No matter where your South Pacific vacation takes you, you are sure to enjoy the beauty, warmth, and excitement that this region has to offer!
